A strong cornerback who had the ability to play coverage for the press, Simon was constantly exposed for his inability to use quick hands and hips that were fluid. Lucky for Simon that the Seahawks appreciate big, muscular cornerbacks. Was Simon's final season at LSU an indication of his abilities, or can the Seahawks come up with a method to mold him into an elite coverman, similar to the other players?
Johnathan Franklin and Eddie Lacy running backs Green Bay Packers
Fantasy football fans will be keeping an eye on the Packers running back's scenario and keeping an eye on the situation through the training camp and the preseason. Rookies Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin appear poised to split the load of the Green Bay backfield since they possess different skills. However, one of the running backs could make a move to separate himself during the preseason.
Quanterus Smith, Defensive end/Outside linebacker, Denver Broncos
Quanterus Smith would have picked up more pre-draft buzz had he not torn his ACL towards the end the season of his final year. Smith is among the most technically advanced players in this draft class, however the Broncos are hoping that he retains the speed and power he showed after suffering a knee injury that ended the season. Can he expect to participate in training camp? If so, how successful will his performance be?
Cornellius Carradine, Defensive end, San Francisco 49ers
Another injury that is worth keeping track of during the time leading up to the season can be 49ers rookie Tank Carradine and his ACL injury. He was recovering at a phenomenal rate leading to the draft, but how does he handle the rigors of an Madden NFL 24 training camp? A fit Carradine as a player in the 49ers defense appears to be unfairas he's got the ability to stick his hand in the ground and then stand up to get after the passer. Carradine could have been a first rounder but the knee injury that he sustained.
Tyler Bray, Quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs
Concerns about character have brought to a higher level when it comes to Madden NFL 24 squads following recent events in the last few offseasons. Tyler Bray went undrafted because of issues with his maturity. He could have been in the right place. New Chiefs director Andy Reid has proven to be a great mentor to players who have had trouble throughout his time in the league. Bray's physical skills are impressive however he has to mature to make the Chiefs roster. If he isn't able to stay as the team's third quarterback It will say much about his character.
Da'Rick Rogers, Wide Receiver, Buffalo Bills
Another amazing talent that went out of the game due to off-field issues include wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers. Rogers was exiled from Tennessee for failing to pass drug tests, and also for hitting heads with the coaches. He's tall, quick and can play after the catch, however the Bills don't have a stake in him as an undrafted player. As a result, the Bills will have to walk through a tightrope and need to perform everything perfectly on the field in order to be a part of the team's roster.
D.J. Fluker, Offensive Tackle, San Diego Chargers
Philip Rivers can attest to the extent to which the Chargers offensive line was struggling in 2012. First-round draft pick D.J. Fluker has every chance to make it to the starting line-up in one of football's weakest fronts. He's not the best fit for left tackle because of his feet that are heavy and he could even struggle at right tackle in the beginning of his career. He'll have the opportunity to play at a young age but will he be prepared for it?
Cordarrelle Patterson, Wide Receiver, Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are hoping Cordarrelle Patterson can help ease his loss Percy Harvin. Patterson is a versatile player who has the ball at his hands however, he's not quite as Harvin in many aspects the game. The preseason is when the Vikings are likely to place a lot on Patterson's plate in an effort to prepare him for Madden NFL 24 quick. It will be interesting find out how they can involve him.
Ziggy Ansah Defensive End, Detroit Lions
The word "raw" was used in nearly every conversation about BYU defensive lineman Ezekiel Ansah prior it was time for the Madden NFL 24 Draft. The combination of speed and strength got him drafted in the top five, though the position comes with the expectation of being a first-rate contributor. Given the speed with which Ansah has grown in his college years, the next chapter of his career should be exciting to track.
Brian Schwenke, Center, Tennessee Titans
The inside of the Titans offensive line has been a glaring problem for the team in recent seasons, but it doesn't have to remain that way after Tennessee has signed guard Andy Levitre and drafted Alabama guard Chance Warmack with the No. 10 selection in the draft of April. However, fourth-round pick Brian Schwenke, a center from California who is an interior lineman to be watching during training camp. He flew under the radar being a "ordinary tools" man, but will get a shot at beginning his career from day one.
Peterson not the best choice for a replacement.
Adrian Peterson erased any and all doubts regarding his abilities to recover quickly when he ran for 84 yards with two touchdowns in the opening week of this season, only eight months after undergoing major surgery to repair a ruptured ACL and MCL. The news was announced in the wake of his injury on Monday that Peterson was not fully recovered from his January hernia surgery however the team hopes Peterson will return with OTAs by May, and perhaps even free-strength training in the latter part of April. Read the Daily Norseman for more on the Vikings.
Time is running out on Revis trade
On the field with Keenan Allen from Madden 24 Nation on the field at Cal wide receiver's pro day held in North Carolina. What did Allen's results reveal on what he can expect from his Madden NFL 24 the future?
It's likely that the New York Jets won't have Darrelle Revis beyond the 2013 season, that much is well-known. That's why the team wants to sell him right now and the possibility of being able to earn 2013. Madden NFL 24 Draft picks gets slimmer each day. With the draft just a couple weeks away, the window of opportunity for a solution is closing, and for the rebuilding Jets they should make it prioritised.
Russell drawing actual interest?
If or when JaMarcus Russell will be able to finish his return to Madden NFL 24. nobody can deny the fact that he's giving it some effort in this round. On Tuesday, it was reported by the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals are showing the most interest in Russell in the offseason. Being signed by either team could be a great thing and especially when you consider that he might have a chance to be a contender with the Cardinals.
Winston dissatisfied with his free agency
Free agent offensive tackle Eric Winston is "frustrated" over the way the process of free agency has been so far. Winston is insistent that he's over-valuing himself in wanting $3-4 million per season.
A Blog For About The Boys: Winston, Cowboys are talking
It was a thriving class for offensive tackles at the beginning. And the next draft is extremely deep in the area also, which is surely hurting Winston's value.
Dallas seeks Free to take a pay cut
Doug Free is set to make $7 million in 2013. which includes a the cap at $10.02 million. For the Cowboys it's excessive, especially when you consider that Free was the most penalized offensive tackle in Madden NFL 24 last season. Dallas wants to hire Winston to take over the position, with Free kick inside to defend. While the team has asked Free to take a pay cut there's no incentive to agree, given the fact that his cap limit will remain the same in the event that you let him go.
Saints re-sign De La Puente
The rise of Brian De La Puenta as the top center of the league has been an excellent development for the Saints however, the two sides have been in no position to reach an agreement on a long term contract so far. The team on Tuesday renewed his contract for a one-year deal worth $2.023 million. Smart money is being put on seeking an extension in the coming season.
Colb pays bills ... in a way
On Tuesday, contract figures for quarterback Kevin Kolb trickled out, and some sense was made of the initially reported $13 million contract. As it turns out, Kolb's contract is only guaranteed $1 million, which is the base salary of $6.1 million. He could make $13 million however only if he's the starter and reaches plenty of incentives and escalators. Check out Buffalo Rumblings for more information about the Bills.
The first season of the 2013 Madden NFL 24 Playoffs begins and will come to an end with what may be, on paper, the best game. It will be the Seattle Seahawks, playing perhaps the best sport in all of football travel across the country to play opponents like the Washington Redskins, winners of the last seven games. Much of the attention going into the game will focus on the match-up between two quarterbacks who are rookies, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson. Both have made their arguments for Madden NFL 24's Rookie of The Year award, however the possibility of winning during the afternoon game on Sunday Maryland is the most likely prize.
The Seahawks' dominance during the last month is evident and dominance in the final month of the season, the Seahawks enter the game as favourites to win against the NFC East champs. But all five of their losses this season were in road games, and RGIII could have had an additional week to rest and repair his knee injury. This year's Heisman champion was evidently limited during the Redskins game two and three of the season. He was wearing a the bulky knee brace which restricted his explosiveness when he ran in the backfield. Wilson avoided significant injury in his first year and improved each week to have the Seahawks in good shape into the postseason.
Meet the Redskins
The Redskins start the postseason on an unbeaten streak of seven games, Mut 24 coins having rebounded from a 3-6 record on their bye, to climb toward the top of NFC East. Griffin transformed the fortunes of a team which had not made an appearance in the postseason since 2006 The team was one of the more boring offenses in the Madden NFL 24. The RGIII team was a huge success from the start and enthralled the Saints during the opening week, and following up as the newly appointed captain towards the end of the season.
Mike and Kyle Shanahan dramatically altered their offense to fit RGIII's skill set, utilizing the pistol and zone-read option. Chris Brown highlighted the offensive adjustments in Washington and the Redskins did it with perfection against Dallas to seal that division last night. Griffin is averaging seven yards per carry operating the zone-read, and even wearing a knee brace, Griffin was able to get running at the edges in the game against Cowboys. While he's far from 100 percent, Shanahan and RG3 have identified the ideal spots to force the defense to choose and is athletic enough to rack up yards even when he's at the top of his game.
Of of course, RGIII isn't the only rookie who has accumulated yards in massive chunks from the backfield. In his first campaign, Alfred Morris has been an extremely effective running back. And the sixth-round pick made the attention during the season's final. Morris ran a massive 200-yard game against the Cowboys and set the Redskins single-season record for rushing. Morris finished the season having 1.613 yardsjust Adrian Peterson had more -and 13 touchdowns including seven in Washington's last four games. The rookie leaps through gaps and swiftly gets on the other side of defense, which is a perfect fit in the Redskins new offensive. The duo of rookies led Washington to the best rush in Madden NFL 24 with an average of 169.3 yards per game.
The Redskins defense was the primary reason for the slow start of 3-6 But Jim Haslett's group improved in the second half of the season during Washington's postseason run. Washington frequently blitzed Sunday night and was able to hold Dallas to just 18 points . They also slowed the passing attack, which allowed the Cowboys in the midst of the playoffs. However the Redskins' secondary remains vulnerable by allowing 281.9 yards per gamewhich is 30th in the league. Wilson will have his chances to shoot down the field and must be able to get the defense up front to withhold the blitz pressure Haslett is likely to unleash.
On the other side of the spectrum The Redskins rank among the top players in the league when it comes to stopping the rush. The long-lived London Fletcher has been nursing an injury to his ankle in the second quarter of the season, however Fletcher is the leader of a defense that holds teams to 95.8 yards per game. Similar to Washington and the Seahawks are playing one of the top rush games of Madden NFL 24. led by the possibility of a couple of plays with Wilson buy madden 24 coins as well as Marshawn Lynch. Fletcher also and his defense have to limit Seattle on the field or else Wilson could expose an already fragile secondary through playaction.
Meet the Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks enter the postseason as the team everyone is not keen on playing after they swept through the league with five victories in December.
